Workshop 1: Effective Monitoring of Mining Projects: From EPEP and MMT Monitoring Report Insights to Practical Implementation
Duration: 60 minutes

This workshop will engage participants in accessing and analyzing Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program (EPEP) and Mine Monitoring Team (MMT) reports, focusing on evaluating environmental impacts, mitigation measures, and spending. By the end of the session, participants will develop a short presentation about their findings and recommendations on how to better implement the EPEP of the mining company.
Outline

Mechanics (10 minutes) Overview of the workshop instructions and present the EPEP and annual EPEP monitoring report.

Group work (45 minutes) Participants will review the EPEP and annual EPEP and answer the worksheet provided.

Presentation (15) Three groups will be selected to present briefly their findings to the plenary for 3 minutes each.
Mechanics

Participants will be grouped by 4-5 people.

They will review the annual EPEP and MMT monitoring report.

Using the worksheets provided, participants will answer the guide questions.

After their review and analysis of the data, participants will prepare a quick presentation on the environmental impacts, mitigation efforts, spending of the mining company, and recommendations on how to better improve the implementation of the company’s EPEP.
